LITCHFIELD, Ariz.---The women's golf team put in some major work today at the PacWest Championships, trimming 12 strokes off of their first round scorecard. The Eagles had a team score of 328 after their first round on Monday and today they recorded 316, which was the second lowest team score of the field. 

"We knew we had to make a move today and our ladies fought hard to get four scores in the 70's," stated head coach Jane Carr. "I'm proud of them for shooting the second lowest score of any team today." 

Carr continued, "We had a lot of ground to make up and we made a big push in the right direction today. There are still 18 holes left and there is no give up in this team. The pins are placed in some precarious positions and that is making this course more challenging. Anything can happen out there tomorrow."

The Eagles definitely made a big push in the second round where all of BU's golfers improved from the previous day. The most impressive improvement came from Jessica Cornelius who shaved off a whopping 10 strokes from her first round. Rachel Shaw also had a drastic improvement, trimming eight strokes off her second round score. 

Brady Turnqusit recorded the Eagles lowest score which moved her up six spots on the leaderboard. Turnquist carded 78, which was two strokes less than her first round score. 

Biola's next-best scorer was Emily Cons who recorded 79 and was tied for 11th overall. Behind Cons was Melanie Reyes (T20, 81), Shaw (T23, 78) and Cornelius (T28, 78).

The Eagles currently sit in sixth place overall, but are in a good position for the last 18 holes. Biola is 15 strokes behind the championships' leading team, Holy Names, who surpassed Point Loma and Dominican with a second round score of 310. Six strokes separates Biola from second place Hawai'i Pacific (634), five strokes separates Biola from Dominican and Point Loma who are tied for third (635) and BU is just one stroke behind Hawai'i Hilo who is in fifth (639).

Anything is possible for the Eagles tomorrow who are set to begin the last round tomorrow Wednesday, Apr. 19 at 9 a.m.
