Busy Day For Biola

The track and field teams polished off a busy day where the teams split up between two meets: The Beach Invitational and Bryan Clay Invitational.

AZUSA, Calif.---The Biola track and field teams polished off a busy day where the squads split up at two meets: the Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational. 

The Beach Invitational
FINAL RESULTS

The Beach Invitational was hosted by Long Beach State at the Jack Rose Track. Biola sent a group of their distance runners to the Beach Invite to participate in the 10,000m run.

Emma Gutierrez led the women with a time of 39:33.17 which translated to a 10th place finish. Behind her was Lillianna Sosa who finished 14th (41:05.90) and Julia Knowles who wrapped up the group in 15th (41:23.91).

Aiden Sherer was the first runner to cross the line on the men's side. Sherer finished 22nd with a time of 34:05.81. Zachary Wallace followed shortly behind, coming in 23rd with a time of 34:15.98. Aden Wiebers was BU's final runner with a time of 35:06.05 in 25th place.

Bryan Clay Invitational
DAY 1 & 2 RESULTS

The Eagles participated in eight track events and one field event in the first two days of Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invite. 

The eight track events included the men's 3,000m steeplechase, men's and women's 5,000m run, women's open 5,000m run, men's and women's 800m run, women's 800 invite, and the heptathlon. 

Charles Bailey represented Biola in the 3,000m steeplechase where he was the 112th runner to cross the finish line with a time of 9:24.27.

The Biola men had two runners finish in the top 50 in the 5,000m run. Ryan Todd led the group of five runners with a time of 14:39.92 which landed him 30th place. Jerry Baltzer was next best, placing 41st with a time of 14:43.77. Following Baltzer was Brady DeHaven (63rd, 14:53.55), Jacob Shirota (64th, 14:54.34), and Aidan Tomasini (92nd, 15:20.6).

BU's women had three top 50 finishers in the 5,000m run. Britta Holmberg led the Eagles pack with a time of 17:27.16 which placed her 20th of 100 athletes. Grace Catena was the next Eagles' runner to finish with a time of 17:35.43 in 35th place. Lolo Landrith was Biola's final top 50 runner, finishing 44th with a time of 17:45.23. Landrith was followed by Karis Brown (59th, 17:52.67), Haleigh Guerrero (63rd, 17:54.67), Ellie Stetina (66th, 18:00.92) and Keira Coye (97th, 18:58.75).

Bethany Mapes and Lynette Ruiz ran the Open A 5,000m run which included five heats of athletes. Mapes finished 15th of 31 athletes in the second heat with a time of 17:05.71. Ruiz finished 21st in her heat where she crossed the line at 16:52.71.

Biola's men had one runner make the top 50 in the 800m run. Caleb Murphy finished 39th of 141 athletes with a time of 1:53.28. Following Murphy was Melt Von Molendorff (91st, 1:55.84), Mathias Davis (121st, 1:57.89) and Aidan Arredondo (138th, 2:00.21).

Hannah Champness headlined Biola in the 800m run with her 31st place finish of 144 athletes. Champness recorded a speedy time of 2:13.48 in the competitive event. Following Champness was Hailey Wurzbach (81st, 2:16.17), Jordan Gossett (84th, 2:16.27), and Hailey Schadt (136th, 2:22.75).

Maggie Williams participated in the 800m run invite. Williams crossed the line 79th of 129 runners with a time of 2:10.27.

Joley Sproul represented the women in the heptathlon which was divided into four groups. Sproul finished 9th in her group of 21 athletes with a total of 4,210 points. Sproul's highest event finish was in the 100m hurdles where she placed 11th (15.67).

The Eagles had one thrower compete today which was Jada Pierce who competed in the hammer throw. Pierce recorded a distance of 44.62m which landed her 38th.

Biola is back at it, tomorrow Saturday, Apr. 15, at the Bryan Clay Invite.
