GOODYEAR, Ariz.---The Biola women's golf team showed improvement in their final day of the RJGA Palm Valley Classic, shaving seven strokes from their first round.

Biola competed against a field of 23 teams which included two ranked teams and four teams that are receiving votes by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The two ranked squads are No. 15 Cal State Monterey Bay and No. 24 UT Tyler. The teams receiving votes are Cal State East Bay, Texas A&M International, University of Arkansas Fort Smith, and Oklahoma Christian University. 

Biola recorded a team score of 302 which was seven strokes better than their first round of 309. The Eagles combined score of 611 placed them 10th of the 23 teams in attendance. 

West Texas A&M was the invitational champions who won the playoff hole against Colorado Christian one-under-par to CCU's two-over-par.

Biola recorded the best finish in the PacWest, ranking above Dominican (14th, 620) and Hawai'i Hilo (T18, 633). BU also bested No. 15 CSU Monterey Bay who placed 11th with a team score of 613.

Melanie Reyes and Brady Turnquist swapped scores in the second round. In the first round Reyes carded 73 and Turnquist carded 76, but in the second round Reyes received 76 and Turnquist received 73 which tied them at 16th on the leaderboard. 

Behind Reyes and Turnquist was Rachel Shaw (T32, 152), Jessica Cornelius (T87, 161) and Emily Cons (T103, 167).

Shaw showed the most improvement, cutting off four strokes from her first round and Turnquist and Cornelius both improved by three. 

As a team, Biola recorded 92 pars which was the second-most pars scored in the field. Rachel Shaw individually scored the second-most total pars, carding 22 in the 36 hole tournament. Turnquist also scored second best in overall birdies, picking up nine in the two-day tourney. 

The Eagles are continuing their Arizona road trip at the Desert Invite hosted by West Texas A&M at the Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The invitational begins on Monday, Apr. 3 in Tucson, Arizona.
