VISTA, Calif.--- The Biola women's golf team put together a great second round at the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invite where they shaved off 13 strokes from their first round as a team.

The Eagles had a team score of 320 for the first round and 307 in their second round to total a 627 final score which tied them for seventh out of 15 teams. Holy Names tied with BU and ahead of them was first place CSU Monterey Bay, second place CSU San Marcos, third place CSU East Bay, tied for fourth place CSULA and Point Loma, and sixth place UT Tyler.

The tournament featured three ranked teams and three teams who are receiving votes. The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) ranked Cal State San Marcos 14th, Grand Valley State 20th and UT Tyler 22nd while Cal State East Bay, Cal State Monterey Bay and Colorado Christian are receving votes by the WGCA. 

BU was two strokes behind No. 22 UT Tyler and ranked above Grand Valley State and Colorado Christian. 

All five Eagles matched or improved from their first round scores. Brady Turnquist led the team, jumping ahead of seven athletes on the leaderboard to lock in second place. Turnquist outscored PLNU's Alli Kim, who was the invite's medalist, in the final round but ended up trailing her by two strokes overall. Turnquist recorded a sizzling score of two-under par 70 which was the lowest single-round score of the invitational. Turnquist led the field in par 4s' scoring and carded six birdies in the second round to cap a great day.  

Rachel Shaw improved by one stroke, recording a second round of 79 which tied her for 33rd. Jessica Cornelius matched her first round score of 80 to conclude her first tourney in the starting five and third-best for the Eagles where she tied for 40th overall. 

Melanie Reyes had the most impressive improvement where she cut off eight strokes to land a second round score of 78. Reyes moved up the leaderboard from T70 to T54 to wrap up an extremely successful round.

Emily Cons concluded the Eagles' five. Cons improved three strokes from her first round to card a second round score of 81 which placed her tied for 58th overall. 

The Eagles will head back home and compete next on Monday, Mar. 20 at The Patriot Invitational at the Poppy Hills Golf Club.
