INDIANAPOLIS --- The NCAA DII Swimming and Diving National Championships began with the dive qualifications on Tuesday at the IU Natatorium. Caleb Pook represented the Eagles, as their first male NCAA DII Nationals participant.

The freshman took part in the 1M and 3M dives on Tuesday, looking to qualify for the same events later in the week.

In the 1M dive, Pook had six attempts and scored a total of 219.50. His highest scoring dive came in his first dive of the day. A score of 46.20 came from his inward two somersault tuck, which was good for 16th place for that attempt. Overall, through his six dives, Pook placed 22nd which missed the cut by four places.

The 3M dive came next and once again, the freshman put his best foot forward in his first attempt. With an inward two and a half somersault tuck, Pook scored a 43.20. Through his six dives, Pook compiled a score of 166.00, putting him in 25th and outside of the top 18 who qualify for the next round.

Pook put together a fantastic rookie season for the Eagles and will now shift his focus to the track and field season, as he competes in the pole vault and hurdles for Biola.
