The softball team defeated Hawai’i Hilo 3-1 at the Vulcan Softball Field which improved their winning streak to seven games.

HILO, Hawai'i---The Biola softball team played a sharp game against Hawai'i Hilo where they defeated UHH 3-1 at the Vulcan Softball Field.

Biola's second-game win improved them 16-5 overall and 9-1 in the PacWest Conference while Hawai'i Hilo fell 3-12 and 0-6 in the PacWest.

Kayla Bousquette threw a great game in the circle where she only allowed the Vulcans four hits. Bousquette kept UHH off-balanced forcing her opponents to hit to her defense. The Freshman threw three 1-2-3 innings in an overall solid performance and improved her record to 6-1 on the rubber.

Jennifer Morinishi and Alexis Lara were extremely successful in the batter's box, batting 3-for-4 against the Vulcans. Abie Nowak also had a great day at the plate where she hit 500, going 2-for-4.

This time around Biola was the one to strike first, scoring the first run of the game. Morinishi doubled to lead off the third inning and was later scored by an Abie Nowak single to left, 1-0.

Biola scored their next run in the top of the fifth, growing their lead 2-0. This time Abie Nowak doubled to lead off the inning and she was later scored by a Rilee Ruvalcaba sacrifice fly.

The Vulcans would get a run across in the bottom of the fifth, taking advantage of two Eagle errors which narrowed Biola's lead to 2-1.

But in the next half inning, the Eagles would extend their lead back to two runs. Lara executed an infield single to give BU a baserunner. Lara was pushed over to second courtesy of a sacrifice bunt by Ruvalcaba and then Morinishi sent her home with a RBI single, 3-1.

Biola heads home on a seven-game winning streak. BU plays next on Friday, Mar. 10 at 12 p.m. against Dominican at Freedom Field.
