GOODYEAR, Ariz.---The Biola women's golf team recorded a team score of 309 in their first round of the RJGA Palm Valley Classic. 

Biola battled a field of 23 teams which included two ranked teams and four teams that are receiving votes by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The two ranked squads are No. 15 Cal State Monterey Bay and No. 24 UT Tyler. The teams receiving votes are Cal State East Bay, Texas A&M International, University of Arkansas Fort Smith, and Oklahoma Christian University. 

Melanie Reyes led Biola with a first-round score of 73 which is her lowest round of the season and just one stroke off of her personal best of 72-par. Reyes finished T8 and led the invitational in par-scoring where she recorded par in all but three holes. 

Brady Turnquist finished next, recording a single-round score of 76 which placed her T32. Turnquist scored three birdies which led her team.

Rachel Shaw followed Turnquist with a score of 78 where she tied for 51st. Shaw recorded par nine times and scored two birdies in her first round. 

Following Shaw was Jessica Cornelius (T92, 82) and then Emily Cons (T100, 83).

The Eagles will compete in the final round tomorrow at the RJGA Palm Valley Golf Club.
