Eagles Lose to Nationally-Ranked Sharks

Biola lost 7-0 to ITA’s fourth-best team in the nation, Hawai’i Pacific, at the Biola Tennis Center.

LA MIRADA---The Biola women's tennis team fought back against the ITA's nationally-ranked No. 4 Hawai'i Pacific, but eventually lost 7-0 to the talented Sharks. 

Hawai'i Pacific broke away with the doubles point after securing two 6-1 wins on courts 1 and 2. The first court fell first, followed by the second.

Amelia Kitts and Alexandria Mann were leading HPU's Nicole Ballach and Rikona Murakami on the third court, but the match would be left unfinished with BU leading 4-2.

The Eagles competed in singles, but would end up falling to the Sharks on all courts. Hawai'i Pacific had two ranked singles players compete including nationally-ranked No. 3 Elodie Busson and No. 10 Marleen Tilgner.

Mann faced No. 3 Busson on court 2 and lost a hard fought match 6-3, 6-1 while Brooke Fager fought No. 10 Tilgner and also lost a competitive match 6-2, 6-2.

Lilly McNeill took HPU's Abigail Wild three sets on court 4. McNeill won the first set 7-5, but would fall 6-4, 6-0 in the last two. 

Biola will regroup and prepare to compete next on Friday, Mar. 3 at 2 p.m. against Colorado Mesa.
