Terrific Tennis

BU grabbed the victory on Thursday afternoon on its home court.

Box Score LA MIRADA --- After a few recent schedule changes, the BU women's tennis squad took the court on Thursday afternoon. At the Biola Tennis Center, the Eagles (4-4) were victorious in a matchup against Western New Mexico (4-4).

Biola began on the backfoot to open Thursday's competition. Doubles play saw action across the first three courts at the Biola Tennis Center to start the day. Court three favored the visitors, who inched a third of the way to the doubles point. 

The next two doubles matches were controlled by the BU duos. No. 2 doubles fell first for Biola, as Lilly McNeill and Gaby Carvajal finished off a 6-2 victory. There was not much drama after, as the top doubles match quickly went the way of the Eagles. Colbeyshae Emery and Brooke Fager came out on top, 6-3, for a 1-0 lead for the Eagles.

The points continued to flow in for Biola one-by-one, as the team clinched the win on Thursday. Singles play showcased impressive talent from the top three singles for the Eagles. No. 1, 2, and 3 singles mirrored each other on their score lines. All three matchups featured one set of 6-2 and one of 6-3 with wins from Emery, McNeill, and Fager. 

Fager notched the fourth and winning point for Biola in No. 2 singles. She put the Eagles up 4-0, clinching it on a 6-3 second set. 

Carvajal tacked on a singles win for the BU squad, tallying a straight-sets victory. No. 5 singles began with a 6-0 set for Carvajal, who helped the Eagles finish out the 5-2 win.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday, taking on No. 25 Midwestern State at 12:00 pm at the Biola Tennis Center.
