KANSAS CITY --- Academics play an important role in Biola Athletics and the Biola swim and dive team exemplified that stupendously. The men's and women's squads each placed four student-athletes on the CSC Academic All-District Teams, reaching the maximum allowed for both.

The 2022‐23 Academic All‐District Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All‐America program separately recognizes swimming and diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Four Eagles on the men's side and four Eagles on the women's side corralled the impressive honor. Luke Bartruff, Anna Cohee, Eliana Cote, Anna Haaksma, Michael Maurer, Liza Parahnevich, Tanner Smith, and Patrick Waggoner all earned the recognition with a minimum grade point average of 3.5, while participating in over half of the team's competitions.

The academic excellence added to the competitive success, as the men's squad was fresh off a PCSC Championship win. Smith played an important role with a pair of podium finishes at the conference meet, as the BU team defeated a field of nine.

Both teams were also named CSCAA Academic All-America earlier this year.
