Eagles Fall Behind

The baseball team fell behind toward the end of the game, eventually losing 8-6 to Hawai’i Pacific.

WAIPAHU, Hawai'i--- The Biola baseball team had an encouraging lead in the fifth inning, but Hawai'i Pacific would score in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to overcome Biola 8-6.

The Eagles worked ahead with the first run of the game. Wyatt Duncan launched a no-doubter over the left field fence that put BU up, 1-0.

Hawai'i Pacific tied up the game in the bottom of the second, 1-1. The game would remain tied for two scoreless innings until BU broke out with a four-run fifth inning.

Anthony Oritz started the excitement with a double that scored Evan Rowe (2-1). Ortiz was pushed to third by a balk and then scored by Austin Carrillo who singled up the middle, 3-1. BU then received their first two outs, but Sam Lisiak would continue the inning by working a walk and would advance to second when Andrew Lujan was hit by a pitch. Taylor Justus would then have a big two-out single to left center that scored one RBI and Biola's third run, 4-1.

The Eagles would force one more run across, benefiting off an HPU error before the fifth inning concluded 5-1 in Biola's favor.

The Sharks went on to score three runs in the sixth and seventh innings which would give them their first lead of the game, 7-5.

Before it was all said and done, both teams would score another run in the eighth which would result in the game's final score of 8-6.

Andrew Beauvais started on the mound, tossing the first five innings. Beauvais proceeded to be relieved by Jake Anderson, Gilbert Lopez and eventually closed out by Tristan Cazel.

The Eagles are facing the Sharks one more time tonight.
