Back-to-Back Again

Wyatt Duncan and Sam Lisiak hit back-to-back home runs for the second day in a row, but the Eagles could not hold on to a win.

WAIPAHU, Hawai'i --- The Eagles (4-12) and the Sharks (7-4) both scored early in game two of Saturday's doubleheader, but the Sharks sneaked away with the win. The Eagles' power hitters, Duncan and Lisiak, did what they could to try and get a win, but Biola could not find their rhythm.

Head Coach Jesse Rodgers has seemed to figure out where he likes Duncan and Lisiak in the lineup. After back-to-back home runs from the two Eagles in Friday's doubleheader, they did it again in Saturday's doubleheader. Duncan found himself in a two-out situation, but that did not stop him. He hit a solo shot to left center field followed by his home run buddy, Lisiak, who also hit a home run to left field. The two solo home runs put the Eagles on the board first with an early 2-0 lead.

The Sharks answered back in the bottom of the first inning. They got in their groove early on and put together a few hits to get men on base. HPU brought a run across the plate on a passed ball and followed up with an RBI triple to tie the game at two after one inning.

HPU found themselves in a similar situation in the second inning. They got a runner in scoring position and scored on another passed ball, giving the Sharks a 3-2 lead in the second inning.

Biola was hoping to answer back and get a few more runs on the board, but they were unable to do so. The Eagles were able to get runners in scoring position in the third and fifth innings, but could not find a way to produce runs.

BU was able to hold Hawaii Pacific scoreless for the last five innings, but not being able to score any runs late in the game led to a 3-2 loss against the Sharks.

Bobby Brown pitched four innings giving up four hits, three unearned runs, two walks and two strikeouts. Eagles relief pitchers, Brandon McClean and Carson Cody held HPU scoreless through their combined two innings pitched, striking out three, walking one, and giving up one hit.

Both Duncan and Lisiak hit home runs in three of the four games against the Sharks on Friday and Saturday. Duncan now leads Biola with six home runs on the season.

BU will continue their road trip and look to get a win on Wednesday, March 1 at 5:00 pm, as they face Hawai'i Hilo in another doubleheader.
