The Eagles nabbed three individual awards to add to their six All-PacWest placements.

November 30, 2023

IRVINE, Calif. --- The top team of the PacWest earned its postseason accolades, which were announced on Thursday afternoon. The PacWest women's cross country postseason awards featured Susi Bruennig as Newcomer of the Year, Ella Voris as Freshman of the Year, and Sean Henning as Coach of the Year.

The Eagles won the PacWest Championship back on October 21, capturing their second-straight conference crown. The top six runners made the All-PacWest list, as top-21 finishers. Bethany Mapes, Susi Bruennig, and Lynette Ruiz made the first team, Britta Holmberg made the second team, and Karis Brown and Lolo Landrith made the third team.

For the postseason individual awards, the Eagles drew a trio of honors, beginning with coach of the year. Back-to-back seasons saw Sean Henning named the top coach in the conference, as the 2022 and 2023 PacWest Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

On the course, Bruennig shined in her first year in La Mirada. The junior transfer was fantastic in her debut season in the PacWest, improving with each appearance in 2023. Bruennig finished in fourth at the PacWest Championships but stepped up at the NCAA DII West Regionals and scored second place with a career-best time. The Essing, Germany native capped off her season with a 28th place showing at nationals, giving her the title of NCAA DII All-American.

Voris made her collegiate debut at the Biola Invitational for the season's kickoff event, taking 35th place. She went on to add a top-20 finish at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite but the freshman was not done there. Voris broke out at the PacWest Championships, shaving over a minute off her previous best 6k mark. She finished the conference meet one spot out of all-conference positioning in 22nd place at 22:23.1.
