IRVINE, Calif. --- The PacWest announced its cross country weekly honors on Monday morning, honoring the Eagles for their performance at the Lewis Crossover. The BU women's cross country squad was named the team of the week, while Bethany Mapes was tabbed as the PacWest Runner of the Week.

The Eagles took seventh at the Lewis Crossover on Saturday, alongside a loaded field of competition. The team picked up 200 points and were just four points away from jumping two spots on the leaderboard.

As an individual, Mapes made it to 15th place. The sophomore led the Biola team on the day and pushed the pace from start to finish. 

Mapes opened up the race in 20th place after the first split but stepped up in the back half. She went on to post a time of 21:38.8, averaging 3:36/k. 

The weekly honor marked the second of the year for Mapes and third for the Eagles.

Biola cross country will begin its preparation for the PacWest Championships set for October 21.
