Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

Eagles Rapp Up Joust

Biola falls by 10 to Loyola Marymount due to tough start.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The end of a six-game stretch over four days came against No. 10 Loyola Marymount. The final game of the CBU Lancer Joust, co-hosted by Biola, favored the Lions in a 16-6 final margin.

It was a sour end to a spectacular stretch from Head Coach Rick Nordell's team. But, they will hold heads high and look to bounce right back as their schedule mellows over these next few weeks.

Aside from a shocking first quarter, this match was not so much out of the Eagles' reach. LMU had its counter-attack dialed in during the first eight minutes, building a 9-1 lead by the first game break.

Biola scored the first goal of the game when Caleb Hernandez whipped a ball up to Nolan Rapp who opened the scoring following an early LMU exclusion.

After that, things began to fall apart a bit for the home team as tired legs and wild shots allowed for the quick and effective transitions for Loyola Marymount.

Biola regained its composure and made its adjustments going into the second period. Two goals from Biola helped the offense but the defense stepped up with only three goals allowed to keep LMU in check.

Quarters two, three and four turned out to be the match we were all expecting as Biola was either level in scoring or down by just one to LMU in each frame.

Rapp would have two assists to go with his goal to end up tied with Maxwell Osborn as the leading point-getters in the loss. Osborn had a hat trick, which was his 11th game this season with three or more goals.

Rapp had a stellar individual week, closing it out with a triple-double. He had 11 goals, 12 assists and 10 steals.

The Eagles end the week 4-2 to improve their overall record to 14-11. They will look to get back in the win column on Friday when they travel to Fresno Pacific (3-14, 0-1 WWPA) for a conference contest.
