Eagles End Fall in Hawaii

The women’s golf team ended the Fall season at the Dennis Rose Invite where they tied for 11th of 18 teams.

WAIKOLOA VILLAGE, Hawaiʻi—The Biola women's golf team ended their Fall season at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate where they tied for 11th of 18 teams.

The Eagles showed improvement throughout the two-day tournament. 

Biola carded 305 in the first round and improved by two strokes in their second (303). The Eagles' efforts allowed them to move up a slot up on the leaderboard, advancing from 12th to tied for 11th. Biola's combined two-day team score of 608 tied them with Western Washington, Hawai'i Hilo and Vanguard.

No. 10 Cal State San Marcos was the invitational's team Champions with a combined team score of 563. Sonoma State and RV CSU Monterey Bay came in second (584) and third (585) respectively. 

Brady Turnquist and Laura Ortiz both improved in their second rounds. Turnquist shaved off seven strokes, recording one-under-par 71. Turnquist's two-round score of 149 moved her up 36 spots on the leaderboard and made her BU's leading golfer at T25.

Ortiz was Biola's next-best finisher and she improved by two strokes (74) in her second round. Ortiz ended the invitational tied for 30th (150). 

Behind Ortiz was Melanie Reyes (T51, 153), Jessica Cornelius (T69, 157), and Karis Haltom (T76, 159).

Rachel Shaw competed as an individual for Biola. Shaw recorded a second round score of 79 which tied her for 39th overall with a combined score of 151.

The Eagles' next invitational is Monday, Feb. 5 at the Jack Brown Memorial in Laredo, Texas.
