Consistency is Key

The Eagles scored win number three in a row, taking down NCAA DIII No. 2 Redlands.

REDLANDS, Calif. --- Biola (17-11) extended its winning streak to three on Tuesday, hitting the road to face Redlands (15-7). The Eagles showed great strength with an early lead, before bringing it home for a 15-10 victory.

Biola took on one of the top teams in NCAA Division III, as the Bulldogs ranked No. 2 in the nation. That did not seem to faze the BU squad, who opened the first quarter with a 3-1 lead. The offense was unstoppable for a whole minute, as the Eagles tacked on three goals in three-straight possessions.

Roman Saroyan played an important role throughout the night for Biola. The freshman tallied a team-high four goals, including the last goal in the first period to give BU the two-point lead.

The big run for BU came in the second stanza. Biola put together a 5-0 run to push its lead to six late in the first half. Redlands tried to erase the deficit but it was too much, as the two teams went nearly even the rest of the way.

Five unique goal scorers contributed to the strong second quarter run, including Nick Murray, Nolan Rapp, Caleb Hernandez, Kyle Seifen, and Will Tibbetts.

The BU offense was a well-oiled machine, totaling 14 assists on its 15 goals in the game. Five Eagles dished out multiple assists, helping nine different Eagles tally at least one goal.

Rapp grabbed a hat trick on Tuesday to go along with two steals. Maxwell Osborn also offered a well-rounded performance with two goals, two assists, two drawn exclusions, and one steal.

Mitchell Carpenter secured the win in goal with 24 minutes played and 11 saves. Joshua Dachenhausen finished out the final quarter for Biola, grabbing two saves.

Biola will host its senior day on Wednesday, holding an exhibition match at 2:00 pm against Saddleback College.
