The Osborn Show

BU fell in the Tuesday road matchup but Maxwell Osborn shined with six goals.

IRVINE, Calif. --- After a busy weekend, the Eagles were right back to it on Tuesday with an afternoon bout against the Westcliff Warriors (5-3). The tightly fought contest leaned the Warriors way with a 13-10 final score.

A powerplay helped the Eagles (2-5) open up a lead two minutes into Tuesday's game. Maxwell Osborn found the back of the net for the first time, after being set up by Nolan Rapp.

Westcliff responded with four unanswered goals of their own before the back-and-forth affair kicked into action.

Despite trailing from the five-minute mark in the first through the end of the contest, the Eagles never let themselves out of the game. For every Warrior score, BU would put one on the board as well. The WU lead was consistently between 1-3 for the majority of the game.

The end of the first half and the start of the second half saw Biola make a strong push to change the pace of the game. Once again, Osborn took advantage of a powerplay, moving the scoreline to 6-4 heading into the halftime break. Shortly into the third period, Osborn tacked on his third goal of the game with the help of Matthew Vinson on the assist.

The one score difference put the Eagles in striking distance with 13 minutes left in the contest. The Warriors would pull together a response though, ending the third period with a 4-3 scoring advantage and an overall three-goal lead with just the final stanza left.

The Eagles would only be able to go even with Westcliff in the fourth to cap off the 13-10 final.

Osborn could not be stopped on Tuesday, rattling off a career-best six goals. The impressive total made for a new program-best, as well.

Dominic Hidalgo-Valecillo, Adam LaVoy, Joshua Halopoff and Rapp led the way in the assist category, notching two assists each. The Eagles shared the ball well, gathering eight assists on nine goals.

Biola will be back in action on Wednesday with its second matchup against Chapman in the 2022 season.
