CLEVELAND, Ohio --- As teams have continued to tack on academic awards during the summer, Biola athletics as a whole impressed on Wednesday. 138 Eagle student-athletes received the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award. 

The accolade was given to each student-athlete who:

• had a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
• had attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work 
• had been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year (Given the continued challenges institutions have had this year when it comes to participation, all athletes who meet bullet point items 1 and 2 are still eligible as long as they were still an active member of the roster during this academic year)

Biola's total of 138 was one of just 69 institutions that surpassed 100 total award-winners. Amongst the PacWest schools, BU ranked second of the 10 eligible programs, trailing just Azusa Pacific at 149.

In total, there were a record breaking 16,802 student-athletes from 171 institutions recognized for the 2021-22 Academic Achievement Awards.
