Mike Teague Joins Administration

Biola announces men's soccer alumnus as new Director of Athletic Development.

August 10, 2022

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The latest addition to the Biola University Athletics staff is a happy homecoming for a Biola alumnus, as Dr. Bethany Miller announces Mike Teague as the new Director of Athletics Development.

Teague concluded his time as a soccer student-athlete at Biola in 2010-11, but he's never been too far away from his alma mater, keeping involved in a myriad of ways until finally finding his way back home full-time with this new position.

In the new role, Teague is the main fundraising officer for the Eagles' NCAA Division II athletics program. He will work directly with coaches and the athletics administration to accomplish the fundraising goals of each individual team and the department as a whole.

Additionally, he will take charge of Biola's annual Athletics Week of Giving and also help spearhead any major facility fundraising campaigns for the Eagles. He will report directly to Biola's Senior Director of Athletics and also report to the Senior Development Director in the university office of advancement.

"Mike brings with him a wealth of experience in college athletics and Christian higher education," said Dr. Bethany Miller, senior director of athletics. "He knows and loves Biola Athletics as an alum of our men's soccer program, and we are excited to welcome him to our administrative staff! I am confident he will thoughtfully and strategically guide our development efforts to support an outstanding experience for our student-athletes for years to come."

Teague played men's soccer under former head coach Bryan Kuderman during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. He helped the Eagles win 21 games over those two seasons and was a part of a squad that advanced all the way to the NAIA national quarterfinals in 2009. That 2009 team had a thrilling progression through the national tournament, which included two wins by way of PKs.

It was also during his time at Biola that he met his wife, Biola Volleyball alumna and lead assistant coach, Gracee Teague.

"I cannot express how excited and grateful I am for the opportunity to join Biola Athletics as the Director of Athletics Development. I am thankful for Dr. Bethany Miller and the rest of the individuals on the hiring committee for providing such an incredible opportunity," Teague said.

"Biola was such an impactful part of my life and helped shape me into the husband and father I am today, and I am looking forward to getting back on campus to help support the continued development of outstanding Christian student-athletes who will go out and make an impact in the world for Jesus Christ."

Teague comes to BU following seven years of service in the athletic department at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California. His most recent role was as the associate athletic director with responsibilities in student success, academic advising, fundraising, compliance and sport supervision.

His influence is wide within the Lions' athletic department and the lives of its student-athletes. He played a role in developing students of significance via a life skills/career readiness program, and he also helped with the planning, logistics and fundraising for the institution's new event center and taught their Champions of Character course.

Prior to that, he worked as an admissions counselor at VU and the lead sales manager at Hyatt Huntington Beach. He is currently a candidate for a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education and Organizational Leadership through Liberty University. He holds a MA in Coaching & Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine and a BA in Communication Studies from Biola.

His extensive experience in athletic administration will bring some versatility to his new role at Biola, where he serves in various leadership capacities within the athletics department and advancement area. He brings with him a familiarity with Biola and a freshness of perspective that should keep Biola on its course towards establishing itself as a model NCAA Division II institution.

"I look forward to connecting with our alumni, our supporters, and our athletics staff as we keep pushing Biola Athletics to new heights and providing an unforgettable experience to current and future student-athletes. Go Eagles!"

Mike begins his new responsibilities at Biola at the end of the month. The Teague family resides in Huntington Beach with their son, Brooks, and their golden retriever, Koa.
