LA MIRADA --- Biola Athletics welcomes its newest staff member in Abner Rodriguez, as an Athletic Trainer. He is coming to La Mirada after finishing his master's degree in Athletic Training from Point Loma Nazarene University.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Biola community and serve as a member in their Athletic Training/Sports Medicine Team," said Rodriguez. "I had always heard great things about Biola and learning more about its culture as well as getting to know the individuals that contribute to its greatness has allowed me to realize how special Biola really is. From the moment I stepped onto the campus, I was welcomed with hospitality."

Throughout his time at Point Loma, Rodriguez gained experience with internships at the University of California San Diego and San Diego State University. He put in the time and effort in those internships, accumulating over 1,000 hours of experience. Within the two stops, Rodriguez worked with over 15 different teams, as a direct athletic trainer.

He has been a member of the National Athletic Trainer Association since the Fall of 2021. He has also earned his Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers Member. 

"I would like to thank Dr. Bethany Miller, John Wiese,​ Jennyn Herrera, Christina Dekker and the rest of the hiring committee for giving me this opportunity to serve alongside them this upcoming year and for introducing me to the great character that its members embody," added Rodriguez. "I am honored to have this opportunity to help develop, educate, motivate, and serve the student athlete's throughout an important stage in their lives."

Rodriguez will assume the new role at Biola beginning August 1.
