INDIANAPOLIS --- The NCAA Career in Sports Forum was hosted in Indianapolis from June 2-5 with 200 student-athletes in attendance. Biola was represented by Caitlin Fowble and Tyler White, who were selected to be amongst the distinguished group at the forum.

The Career in Sports Forum is an annual educational program that brings together 200 selected NCAA student-athletes to learn about and explore potential careers in sports, particularly college athletics. This unique three-day forum helps student-athletes chart their career paths. Participants network with and learn from current athletics professionals. Both Fowble and White were nominated by athletic administrators, before applying for the three-day event. 

White was grateful for the experience and the many lessons learned during the forum. "I would say that the most beneficial part of the NCAA Career in Sports Forum was getting to listen and work with current professionals in the industry. One of the most memorable conference speakers was Jonathan sprinkles, CEO of Connectology, and the best takeaway I had was that 'people won't hear you until they know you'. Student-athletes always focus on being an athlete, but it's just as important to show who you really are as a person. The thing I'll always remember about this experience was the connections that I made with the other student athletes, and more importantly new friendships."

"My favorite part of the forum was definitely getting to connect with all of the other athletes from across the country and getting to explore all of the different opportunities that exist for a career in sports," Fowble said of her time in Indianapolis. "It was beneficial getting to hear from so many professionals in the industry and learning how to better prepare myself for what lies ahead."

The forum allowed attendees to network with peers and decision-makers at the campus, conference and national level of college athletics. Notable speakers covered the following topics and more to prepare attendees for success navigating their futures: self-awareness and its role in professional development; practical approaches to the sports job search; personal branding; developing a career plan; managing yourself as a professional in the sports industry. Through panels, engaging breakout discussions, keynote presentations and facilitated dialogues, program participants walked away from their experience with a thorough understanding of athletics as a career path and where they fit into the industry's landscape.
