ENCINITAS, Calif.-- Former Biola University women's tennis player Mary Brascia didn't skip a beat as she transitioned to playing professional pickleball after capping off her senior season for the Eagles in spring 2022.

Since graduation, Brascia is pursuing and excelling in a different passion– pickleball. Brascia competed in the recent APP Socal Classic where she won her first professional singles title. An exciting landmark in her blossoming professional pickleball career. 

Despite dominating for the Eagles on the tennis court, Brascia has dropped the racket and picked up the paddle to do great things. "I love pickleball and if there is any way that I can help grow the sport at BU in the future I would," Brascia stated. Her passion for the sport propelled her to quick success in the June APP tournament in which she was the No. 4 seed in singles.

Brascia played tennis for two seasons at Biola where she made an immediate impact as a junior transfer. The Mission Viejo native opened up her first season at Biola as a middle-court player. In her debut season she secured 14 wins and only let up two losses, playing a big role in the programs first above-.500 season in 28 years. 

In her senior season, she moved up to the first and second courts where she contributed 15 wins and eight losses for the Eagles. This impressive record was no small feat having faced off against some of the toughest competition in the nation. 

Brascia has a promising career ahead of her on the pickleball courts as she continues on the APP tour.
