STOCKTON, Calif. — A slight uptick in scoring on day two of the NCAA West Regional saw Biola slide back from eighth place into 10th overall through the first 36 holes.

Biola's score increased from its day one of 303 to a second-round tally of 312. This puts them behind CSU San Marcos and CSU Monterey Bay as the 10th of 12 teams in the ultra-competitive field.

Sami Penor led the way for the second-straight day, shooting the Eagles' lowest single round of 76. She ends two days tied for 18th on the individual leaderboard. Penor had another relatively clean round with 12 pars, one birdie and just five single bogeys. She was two-over on both nines to card, increasing her overall relative to par score by four. 

Brady Turnquist had the second-best round of the day and was one of just two Eagles to improve on their day one scoring. She shot a 77 to move down two strokes from her day one 79. 

Turnquist had a bit more adventurous day, shooting either under or over par on five-consecutive holes in the middle of the back nine while building her score of five-over. Included in that mix were two birdies, a bogey and two doubles. 

Melanie Reyes is Biola's second scorer for the tournament, but had the third lowest tally for the day. She added a handful of strokes to her day one total, shooting a 79 during this second round. She sits in 32nd overall and is four strokes back from Penor after 36 holes.

Reyes began the day with two birdies in her first three holes (Biola began on the back-9), and she had four birdies total, but she also had nine holes over par, including a triple bogey on her 16th hole of the day. The hole where she tripled was the third most-challenging hole of the day for the field.

Rachel Shaw joined Turnquist as the only other Eagle to improve from day one to day two. Shaw scraped off one stroke from her day one tally of 81 to shoot right at 80. She and PacWest Conference Co-Freshman of the Year Lauren Lee are nearly identical on the tournament leaderboard through two days. Lee paired a 79 with an 81 to sit at 160 (+16), while Shaw is at 161 (+17).

Entering the final day of competition, Biola would need to make up 23 strokes on West Texas A&M in order to qualify in the top-5 and continue the season to nationals. The Eagles are just 10 strokes back from eighth and 15 strokes back from seventh if they can shave a few strokes off tomorrow.

The teams sitting in sixth, seventh and ninth all shot better in round two than they had in the first day.

Texas A&M International leads the field through two days with a team total of 580. The No. 1 team in the country, Dallas Baptist, is second with a 582.
