IRVINE, Calif. --- The new PacWest Champions roped in their postseason conference accolades on Tuesday afternoon, while they were out on the golf course in regionals play. Jane Carr headlined the award-winners as the 2022 PacWest Coach of the Year and Lauren Lee came through with a Co-Freshman of the Year honor.

Head Coach Jane Carr led the Eagles to a historic 2021-22 campaign that saw unprecedented success in the program. For the first time since joining the ranks of NCAA Division II, Biola women's golf wore the PacWest crown when they won the championship on April 20 in Arizona. The team hung near the top of the pack for all three rounds but made their move on the final two holes to secure the 2022 conference title. 

The BU squad has been extremely consistent throughout the season, landing four individual tournament wins and six top-three team finishes and 10 top-five team placements, prior to the PacWest tournament. The Carr led squad featured a young unit, including three freshmen, two sophomores and one senior who consistently saw action in the regular season.

Lauren Lee made a splash in her first collegiate season, taking home the PacWest Co-Freshman of the Year award. Lee found her footing in the second half of the season, posting three top-10 finishes and pacing Biola in the final two rounds of the PacWest Championships.

On the year, the freshman tallied 26 rounds with an average score of 78.31 and also nabbed a Second-Team All-PacWest nod on Tuesday. Lee put together her best effort at the West Texas A&M Invite with back-to-back rounds of even par. The impressive showing was good enough for her career-best finish of second place.

The distinctions continued to come in for Biola with the announcement of the All-PacWest teams. All five participants from the PacWest Championships made the prestigious list.

Sami Penor picked up a First-Team All-PacWest honor for her third distinction in her career. The senior produced three top-five placements and notched an individual win at the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational, ending at -1 to par for the win. At the PacWest Championships, Penor was BU's top competitor, tying for sixth at +14 through three rounds.

Another First-Team All-PacWest selection came in from Brady Turnquist. The sophomore left the gates in a hurry at the beginning of the season, winning three of the first four tournaments. In the year, Turnquist turned in five top-five performances and six top-10 showings on the way to her second All-PacWest distinction. 

Melanie Reyes joined Lee on the Second-Team All-PacWest list in her first year of collegiate play. The freshman modeled consistency with an average of 77.82 strokes per round through 28 total rounds in the season. Reyes finished tied for 12th at the PacWest Championships and offered her best performance of the year at the WC Wasatch Invitational, taking fifth place.

Rachel Shaw also finished tied for 12th at the PacWest tournament and collected a Third-Team All-PacWest honor on Tuesday. Another freshman had a fantastic debut season for BU, nabbing third in the season opener and notching four top-15 finishes. Shaw averaged 79.00 strokes per round and competed in all 28 rounds for Biola. 

The Eagles will wrap up NCAA West Regional Championships on Wednesday with the third and final round at the Brookside Country Club.
