LA MIRADA --- Dominance throughout 2022 from the No. 1 hurler in the BU rotation has opened the door to some of the most prestigious postseason awards. On Wednesday, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association handed out their All-Region awards, honoring Paige Austin for her work in the circle. 

The NFCA and D2CCA named two teams for each region across NCAA DII. Austin made the NFCA and D2CCA All-West Region First Team for the second-straight year with her honors on Wednesday. The D2CCA also gave out a West Region Pitcher of the Year award which also went to Austin. 

"The thing I love about Paige is how humble she is about her success. She never brags about her awards or all the records that she breaks. She is truly one of the best pitchers to have ever pitched for Biola Softball. " head coach Kristin Halte commented.

The fifth-year senior earned the incredible honors with a career season in 2022. Austin was one of the top pitchers in the nation, ranking second in ERA (0.74), 16th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.83), 21st in total strikeouts (205), 10th in strikeouts per seven innings (10.2) and second in walks and hits per inning pitched (0.69). 

In addition, Austin led all of NCAA DII in hits allowed per seven innings at 3.33. That ridiculous rate was helped by a pair of no-hitters from Austin in 2022. The righty logged seven scoreless hitless frames on March 21 in a win over Hawaii Pacific for her first ever seven inning no-no. Austin was not done there, adding a five inning no-hitter on April 28 against Academy of Art.

On the season, Austin notched a career-best 205 strikeouts. Through her 24 appearances and 20 starts, the BU pitcher reached double-digit whiffs 10 times with four-straight such outings to start the season. In the season-opener, Austin logged her season-high of 17 strikeouts, while completing the one-hit shutout for the Biola win. 

Austin was also team-first player, who was always there for her fellow Eagles. Halte added, "Paige is someone who continually uplifts others and helps them be their best. She is someone who her teammates have always enjoyed playing with."

The 2022 NFCA Division II All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, May 25.
