IRVINE, Calif. --- On Wednesday night before the start of the PacWest Championships, the PacWest officials handed out the All-PacWest awards for the 2022 season. Colbeyshae Emery and Mary Brascia pulled in the accolades with singles and doubles honors.

The Eagles put together a performance for the record books in 2022. The group offered its best overall record in program history with a mark of 20-4, including a 14-match winning streak in the middle of the campaign.

20 wins and seven shutouts helped the Eagles nab the second seed of the PacWest Championships set to begin on Thursday. 

Emery was the top singles player for Biola, competing in the No. 1 spot for every match. The junior led the team with 16 wins on her way to a First Team All-PacWest selection. The solo star earned her second-straight first team honor on Wednesday.

Throughout 2022, Emery earned top ratings in the ITA singles rankings, while finishing the season at No. 31. 

The duo of Emery and Brascia earned a SecondnTeam All-PacWest recognition for the second time in as many seasons. No. 1 doubles belonged to the talented pair, as they tallied the most wins for Biola. The two tag-teamed for a 15-5 record in 2022 and won their first 11 matches that did not go unfinished.

Brascia picked up a Third Team All-PacWest honor after going 13-7 in the regular season. The senior gathered 12 wins from the No. 2 spot and added one victory from the No. 1 spot. 

During the year, Brascia moved into the top-50 for the ITA DII singles rankings. Nine of her 13 triumphs came in a straight-sets sweep, including three-consecutive to start the season.

The second-seeded and No. 18 Biola Eagles will kick off their PacWest Tournament with a matchup against sixth-seeded Academy of Art. The last time BU and ARTU met at the Biola Tennis Center, the Eagles claimed the victory in a 5-2 match. The final three singles matches needed a full third set in a close-knit matchup between the two squads. The postseason contest is set to begin on Thursday at 1:00 pm at the Surprise Tennis Club.
