April 02, 2022

Box Score LA MIRADA --- Biola Tennis Center continued to be a safe haven for Biola, as the women's tennis squad moved to 13-0 at home. The most recent victim was Concordia (8-10) on Saturday, as BU pulled off the 7-0 sweep.

The shutout was the sixth of the season for the BU Eagles. The big win improved No. 14 Biola's overall record in 2022 to 19-2.

Doubles play heavily favored Biola on Saturday with at least three games of separation on each court. Courts No. 1 and No. 3 were the two to finish for BU in 6-1 and 6-3 fashion. The No. 2 spot was not far behind and remained unfinished at 5-2.

Lilly McNeill took care of business in No. 4 singles to keep the momentum flowing for Biola. The sophomore picked up her 10th win from the No. 4 spot, while giving up three total games between the two-set sweep. Brooke Fager also gave up just three games in her singles match to score the point for Biola. The straight-sets win marked the 10th singles win of the season for Fager.

The match-clinching point came in from Colbeyshae Emery. The Ventura, California native won in straight-sets for the eighth time this season, taking down Tiffany Carrillo in back-to-back 6-4 sets.

With the match decided, the Eagles still kept up the pressure and fought for every remaining point. Mary Brascia and Ines Diaz offered up straight-sets wins for Biola on courts No. 2 and No. 6, respectively to maintain the shutout.

Alexandria Mann dropped the first set in her singles match against Alyssa Zayat but responded with a 6-3 showing in set number two. The final set began after the 4-0 Biola start, making the third set a 10-point tiebreaker to determine the match. Mann continued her pace from the second set and took the tiebreaker, 10-4, maintaining and securing the 7-0 shutout for BU.

Biola will return to action next Saturday at Point Loma at 11:00 am.
