VISTA, Calif. --- The Shadowridge Country Club played host to 19 teams on Monday, as the Biola Eagles entered the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invite. The two-day tournament featured a Biola squad that tallied a 306 (+18) day one, which was good enough for a share of fourth.

A large field took the course on Monday with multiple participating teams gathering national recognition. The top-tier competition included host squad No. 13 CSU San Marcos, No. 5 Barry, No. 1 Lynn and six teams receiving votes, which includes the Eagles.

The BU squad only trailed top-25 teams through the first round of competition. Lauren Lee did her part, offering up a team-best score of 73 (+1). The freshman was on her game from the opening hole, guiding Biola from the front of the pack from the start.

Just like her team, Lee finished day one tied for fourth place on the individual leaderboard. Par fives were Lee's specialty, as she paced the entire field with a -2 through the four long holes. The young talent also succeeded with her birdie play, nabbing the second-most birdies on the day with four.

The veteran of the BU squad followed in a tie for 18th place in the round. Sami Penor turned in a scorecard of 77 (+5) to rank second on the team.

Mary Grace Davidson contributed to the scoring for Biola on Monday and kept pace with Melanie Reyes. The duo each logged a 78 (+6) for the round, tying for 25th on the individual leaderboard.

The final scorer for BU came in at 80 (+8) in Brady Turnquist. The sophomore maintained the consistency of the Eagles team, as Biola was the only squad to have all five scorers finish at 80 or below.

Rachel Shaw saw action on the course, competing as an individual. The freshman was right in the thick of the pack, coming in at 79 (+7) with 11 pars on the day.

Biola is ready to take on day two at the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invite on Tuesday with flights set to begin at 8:00 am.
