IRVINE, Calif. --- The PacWest released its player of the week award-winners on Monday afternoon and to no surprise, Paige Austin raked in the honor. The PacWest pitcher of the week rolled through opposing offenses for four wins, three shutouts, a save and a no-hitter.

There was not a better way to start off the week than a Monday no-no against Hawaii Pacific. One Shark reached base on a two-strike hit-by-pitch but other than that the visitors were silent at the plate. The no-hitter marked the first for Austin that went the full seven innings.

Day two against Hawaii Pacific featured a one-run gem from Austin for a second win on the week. Nine strikeouts was the most on the week for the righty, who totaled 34 through five appearances.

In a weekend series against Chaminade, the senior notched back-to-back shutouts for wins No. 9 and 10 on the season. In the final game against CUH, Austin was called upon for relief work in the closing innings. Austin logged the final seven outs to tally the save in a 5-3 victory.

On the week, Austin compiled 29.1 innings pitched, 34 strikeouts, a 0.24 earned-run average, four wins, three shutouts, one save and one no-hitter. The incredible performances improved her overall ERA to 0.82, which ranks ninth in the nation. A 0.72 walk and hits per inning average rates third in the nation for Austin in 2022.

The Monday announcement marked Austin's second PacWest Pitcher of the Week award of the year.

Biola's Monday doubleheader against Hawaii Hilo has been postponed due to inclement weather, so the Eagles will return to the field on Tuesday against the Vulcans at 12:00pm.
