Shaheed Goes Pro

Malik Shaheed has signed to join Bay Cities FC to extend his career beyond Biola.

March 25, 2022

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. --- Malik Shaheed has added to the Biola alumni turned pro by signing a contract with Bay Cities FC.

The outside back was a two-year talent in La Mirada, having transferred from NCAA DI Lipscomb University in 2020. Shaheed saw 17 match appearances and 15 starts in his time at Biola. Through the two years, the Dallas, Texas native recorded 1,233 minutes played, two goals, 16 shots and one game-winner.

In his final and only full season at Biola, Shaheed earned a Third Team All-PacWest selection.

Biola head coach Joey O'Keefe had nothing but praise for the newest addition to the Bay Cities FC squad, "Malik was an outstanding leader and player for the men's soccer program in his senior year. Early in the season, we decided that Malik would best help our team succeed as an outside back. This could have been a difficult transition for an attacking player with Malik's prowess and pedigree, but he took the challenge with open arms. Malik became an exceptional left back, earning his place on the PacWest All Conference team. Since he has only been playing the position for a matter of months, Malik's ceiling is exceptionally high. His raw athletic strength and tenacity to win 50/50 battles will bode well in the professional game."

Bay Cities FC has recently joined the National Independent Soccer Association, which is a nationwide third division professional soccer league featuring teams including the L.A. Force, New Amsterdam FC and Michigan Stars FC. Bay Cities FC will be the league's 15th team.

"We as a coaching staff are beyond excited to see what Malik's professional career will blossom into as he will be salt and light in any locker room," added O'Keefe.
