PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. --- Sixth place after day one turned into sixth place in the tournament for the Biola Eagles. The BU squad took on a field of 12 total teams at the Patriot Invitational, battling through three rounds at the Poppy Hills Golf Club in Pebble Beach, California.

Biola (307-312-308-927) came out on day two and looked to close out the beginning of the week tournament strong. A third look at the course helped the Eagles nearly reach their round one total, as they posted a team score of 308. The pace was good to keep up with the middle of the pack, as BU settled into a tie for sixth at the conclusion of the tourney.

The top of the leaderboard was covered in top-10 nationally ranked teams on Tuesday. No. 4 Dallas Baptist were the champs at the Patriot Invitational, while No. 3 Limestone grabbed second, No. 10 CSU San Marcos nabbed third and No. 5 George Fox took fourth.

On the individual leaderboard all six Biola participants finished amongst the top 52. Two Eagles stepped into the top-28 on the tourney and one Eagle earned a top-15 spot.

Sami Penor was the star golfer for Biola in Pebble Beach, capping off her tournament with a round of 75 (+4). The senior led the BU squad in each round (72-76-75-223), coming in tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard. 

Penor delivered for the Eagles with poise and precision on day two. Her final round consisted of 14 pars and just four bogeys, displaying pristine consistency. Penor and the BU squad all started on hole 10 and the Henderson, Nevada native found her groove after the turn, collecting eight of her pars on the front-nine.

Brady Turnquist (77-82-75-234) matched Penor in round three, turning in a scorecard of 75 (+4). An up-and-down back-nine changed directions, as the sophomore made the turn. The front nine saw six pars and one bogey to go along with the pair of birdies on holes five and six. The great finish helped her to four birdies on the day and propelled her to a tie for 28th place.

The Eagles continued to dominate the front nine, as Rachel Shaw (85-79-77-241) ended her performance at the Patriot Invite with seven pars and a birdie on holes 1-9. The freshman got better with every round, culminating with a 77 (+6) score on day two.

Lauren Lee (84-78-81-243) and Melanie Reyes (74-79-82-235) came in next for the team participants on Tuesday. Lee and Reyes capped off their day with a birdie on the last hole, while Lee totaled a pair of birdies in the round.

Through the two days, Mary Grace Davidson posted a pair of sub-80 rounds to come in 51st place. The sophomore competed as an individual and finished off round three with a score of 79 (+8).

Biola will be back in action on Monday, April 4 at the WT Desert Invitational in Tucson, Arizona.
