SAN DIEGO --- The Biola track and field squad made the trip down to San Diego on Saturday for the Ross & Sharon Irwin Invitational hosted by Point Loma. An event victory and a flurry of top-five and top-10 finishes made for a successful day on the track for BU.

The highlight of the day came in the men's triple jump courtesy of Joshua Jackson. The sophomore put together an incredible performance with a jump of 14.30 to win the event on Saturday. The mark made for his best effort as an Eagle.

The long distance group impressed from the day's start. Grace Catena and Britta Holmberg went the distance in the 3000m steeplechase and took first and third, respectively. Catena won the event amidst the field of three runners, outpacing second place by 40 seconds.

In the women's 1500 run, the Eagles posted three top-10 finishes amongst a field of 52 participants. Hannah Champness came across first for BU, taking fifth place with a personal-best time of 4:42.87. Landing in seventh, Lynette Ruiz finished with a time of 4:44.98 and was followed by Kenzie Elliott in 10th at 4:51.70. Jordan Gossett added a top-20 placement with a personal-best mark of 4:57.97.

The meet continued with the same event on the men's side. Will Durrance led the charge with a time of 4:01.64 for 11th place. Aidan Tomasini was inches behind his teammate in 13th, crossing the finish line at 4:01.89. A third top-20 finish came in from Aidan Arredondo, who logged a mark of 4:03.32.

Keira Coye led the pack for the Eagles in the 5000m run, as five participants all landed in the top 27. Coye took seventh with a time of 18:13.48, edging out teammate Kaela Berretta, who finished at 18:31.94 in 12th. On the men's side, Brady DeHaven was just as impressive, logging a time of 14:47.60 for sixth place. Four Eagles placed amongst the top-20 in the men's 5000m.

A pair of relays got the job done on Saturday, including the men's 400 and the women's 1600. A group of Cole Muller, Mathias Davis, Dominic Castro and Trevor Hormel came out the gates fast for a second place finish in the 400 relay with a time of 42.82. In the women's 4x400, Champness, Elliott, Gossett and Hailey Schadt combined for third with a mark of 4:04.72.

The women's high jump event featured three Eagle athletes. Hanna Bevan led the group in fourth place at 1.60m and was followed by Rebeka Preston in seventh at 1.55m and Olivia Doyle in 10th at 1.50m.

Kenna Chism reached the medal stand in the long jump with a mark of 5.39m. The lengthy leap was good enough for third place amongst the field of 26 participants.

A pair of short distance hurdlers graced the top-10 in Heidi Sowers and Christian Lukens. Sowers nabbed 10th with a time of 15.10 in the women's 100 hurdles and Lukens also notched 10th with a time of 16.12 in the men's 110 hurdles.

The 100 dash matched the hurdles with Kelaiah Moore and Cole Muller each landing in 10th with respective times of 12.84 and 11.13.

Champness continued her impressive day in the 800m run. The senior collected a fourth place finish with a time of 2:17.83 for her second top-five placement on Saturday. Elliott was not far behind in 10th place at 2:21.39.

Sowers returned in the 400 hurdles and improved on her finish with a sixth place showing at 1:04.45. Sophia Morris added to the event for BU, coming in at 1:06.23 for ninth. The men's duo of John Carswell and Christian Lukens found just as much success in the 400 hurdles. Carswell took third with a time of 55.82, while Lukens landed in ninth at 57.30.

Mathias Davis added another top-10 finish for Biola in the sprints, taking ninth in the 200 with a time of 22.49.
