SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- The Eagles hosted the Biola Invitational between Thursday and Friday, featuring a group of eight competing teams at the Grand Country Club in San Diego. The lone home event for Biola made for the proper time to celebrate BU's lone senior, Sami Penor. 

Penor was Biola's top performer throughout the two-day tournament, turning in rounds of 75 and 74 for a total of 149. The senior came up six strokes short of the lead for fifth place. 

The highlight of the day came on hole eight for Penor. A long tee shot put Penor in a fairway bunker 140 yards out from the hole. The righty lifted the ball clean off the sand and placed it on the green in front of the hole. The ball continued to roll and trickled into the hole for an eagle. The incredible shot helped Penor go +2 on the day and +5 for the tourney.

Cal State San Marcos (297-304-601) took care of its substantial day one lead to finish out as tournament champions. Behind the effort of the individual champion, Raquel Prado, Point Loma (307-303-610) nabbed second and was followed by Biola (313-311-624) in third.

Lauren Lee did her part to lower the team's score on Friday, cutting her total by 10 strokes between the two days (87-77-164). A strong back-nine carried the Eagle with one birdie and seven pars to hold her score even in the stretch.

Brady Turnquist (78-78-156) was churning out pars in round number two, posting a score of 78 (+6). Friday's scorecard for Turnquist held 13 pars, helping her to 10th place on the individual leaderboard.

To round out the counting scores for Biola, Mary Grace Davidson added a tally of 82, which matched her day one total. Her lone birdie of the day came on hole 12, which was a 515 yard par five.

Rachel Shaw picked up the pace on day two, turning in a scorecard of 74 (+2). Her second round kept pace with the lead pack, tying for second place on the day. The freshman competed as an individual through both days, nabbing a share of eighth place on the leaderboard (80-74-154). 

Jessica Cornelius (79-88-167) and Mailinh Vu (90-97-187) also played as individuals for their home invitational.

Biola will return to the course on Monday, March 21 at the Poppy Hills Golf Course for a two-day tourney.
