LA MIRADA --- The Biola Eagles used its momentum from Friday's win to have a day at the Biola Tennis Center on Saturday. In the home season-opener, BU came up just shy of a clean sweep, soaring to a 6-1 non-conference win against Redlands on Saturday afternoon. 

The BU tennis squad (2-0) was up and ready for battle, starting quickly against the Bulldogs and earning two out of three doubles matches. The Eagles kept it's focus going throughout the day, succeeding in five of six singles competitions. 

On court number three, Gaby Carvajal and Ines Diaz finished first in doubles as they didn't mess around, taking down Redlands' Lexi Lehman and Abby Nash, 6-0. The doubles team worked well in communicating and placing the ball exactly where it needed to go. 

The Eagles duo also didn't waste any time getting on the board as Colbeyshae Emery and Mary Brascia dropped their opponents 6-2 for their second doubles victory of the season. The quick win marked the first point of the day over to Biola.

Ines Diaz, showed up and showed out as she tacked on the first win for her team during the singles portion of the day.

Shortly after Diaz, Carvajal and Brascia earned straight- set wins, sophomore McNeill won the first set 6-3, lost the second set, 7-5 and went and dialed in for a tiebreaking final set win. 

On court No. 3, the final singles match of the sunny afternoon was a battle between Alexandria Mann and UR fifth-year Kiana Brady. Mann took set one and set three and the point to conclude the match for the Eagles with a final score of 6-1. 

"I am super proud of these girls and all the hard work we are putting in on and off the court," commented Brascia. "We came in and did what we had to do and it was great to see Diaz and Carvajal finish with fast and strong wins." 

After a strong finish, the Eagles are ready to fly to the big island and take on Hawaii Hilo on Friday, February 11 at 11:00 am for their first NCAA Division II matchup of the season. For updates check athletics.biola.edu
