ALAMEDA, Calif. --- Round one of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout took place on Monday in Alameda, California with the Eagles competing amongst a field of 14. BU finished day one tied for fifth place but Mary Grace Davidson stole the show with an ace on the 11th hole of the course.

Heading into hole 11, Davidson was looking to bounce back from a few bad breaks. Holes eight through 10 held bogeys for the sophomore, canceling out her three birdies on the front nine. A hole-in-one reinvigorated Davidson's round, putting her right back in the mix -2.

Davidson put together a spectacular performance all-around through the opening round. The sophomore tallied five birdies in addition to her eagle, while pacing all individuals and sitting at the top of the leaderboard with two other players at 70.

Since Mary Grace Davidson competed as an individual, the Eagles took the scores from their five other players to compute their team score.

Brady Turnquist was top scorer for BU, placing within the top 10 for round one. The sophomore came in at 73 and was closely followed by Lauren Lee who tallied a score of 74. Lee sat tied for 11th place on the individual leaderboard with her two over-par day. Consistency was key for Lee, who notched 16 pars in the round.

All six golfers finished under +10 in the round with the team totalling 303 strokes and a 15 over-par total. The veteran Sami Penor offered up a round of 77 to place tied for 24th in round one.

A pair of freshmen in Melanie Reyes and Rachel Shaw rounded out the scorers with scorecards of 79 (+7) and 81 (+9), respectively.

Biola will complete the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Tuesday with round two beginning at 8:00 am.
