Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Haley Martinez, Sports Information Assistant

Supreme Saturday

Biola had another excellent day, securing a fifth-straight win with a 6-1 victory at home over No. 23 Point Loma.

LA MIRADA --- The Biola (8-1) women's tennis team did not hold back, as they went full force in a 6-1 winning effort on Saturday. No. 25 Biola competed against the No. 23 Point Loma Sea Lions (6-4) on Saturday afternoon at the Biola Tennis Center and came out on top in the top-25 matchup.

"I am very proud of these girls, they go after what they want. They faced and conquered two tough ranked competitors, who were ranked ahead of us in Azusa Pacific and Point Loma. I am excited to see where this team will be at the end of the season," said Head Coach David Goodman.

The day started off with great overall success in doubles for BU. The team grabbed a win on court No. 3 with a score of 6-0. The dynamic duo of Colbeyshae Emery and Mary Brascia wrapped up doubles play with a 6-3 win on the first court.

As the match moved to singles, the Eagles looked to maintain control and put the match away. Brascia did her part, finishing first with a straight-sets rout (6-4, 6-2) in the No. 2 spot. Lilly McNeill had control of the match over her opponent, Samantha Neilson, closing out both sets with a 6-4 advantage.

The fourth and clinching point came from court No. 1. Emery fought hard through three sets against a tough competitor in Arianna Audelo. Set number one went the way of the Sea Lion but the BU redshirt sophomore made a few adjustments to respond and take sets two and three. Ines Diaz won her singles decisions in straight-sets, utilizing a dominant tiebreaker to seal the win.

After the visitors stole their lone point on the fifth court, BU picked up the final point of the contest. PacWest Athlete of the Week, Alexandria Mann, gave the Eagles a 6-1 victory with a win from the No. 3 spot.

The Eagles now turn their attention to Colorado Mesa, as they battle on March 3 at 2 p.m. at the Biola Tennis Center. For live stats links and updates check athletics.biola.edu.
