IRVINE, Calif. --- The Eagles put together an impressive week, notching a pair of wins to move to 6-1 on the season. Alexandria Mann played a huge part in the team's success, helping her pick up a PacWest Player of the Week award.

The Eagles came to play last week, starting things off with a 7-0 win over Cal State LA. The shutout gave BU the momentum heading into a weekend tilt against No. 11 Azusa Pacific at home. The top-25 contest was won by the hosting 25th-ranked Eagles with a 5-2 masterpiece.

With the match against APU leaning towards Biola at 3-1, the Eagles still needed one more point to finish off the upset. Mann was hard at work from the No. 3 spot, looking to overcome the veteran opposite of her in Carolyn Brooner.

The battle swayed back and forth through the first two sets with both players securing big wins. Mann owned the first set 6-2, before Brooner responded with a 6-1 win in second number two. The young talent of Mann prevailed as the match went the distance, polishing off the victory with a 6-3 final set.

The point secured for BU marked the clinching point for the team on the day. The triumph over the Cougars was the first for BU in over 24 years.

On the season, the Buford High product has remained perfect in singles play with a 6-0 record. Mann has shown her versatility on the court with three straight-set wins and three that went the distance.

The young talent and the Eagles will be back in action at the Biola Tennis Center on Friday in a 3:00 pm bout against Fresno Pacific.
