LA MIRADA --- The BU Track and Field season is all set to start on Saturday. The 2022 campaign will begin at the Pomona-Pitzer Collegiate All-Comers. Hard work and dedication will show its fruit in the spring semester for an Eagles squad that is primed to compete.

Sixth-year head coach, Sean Henning has prepared his team to give all-out effort in a conference and division with top-tier foes. With Henning at the helm, the Eagles have seen many national competitors, including 2022 returner Rebeka Preston.

"I'm excited to start competing," stated Henning. "The team has worked really hard over the fall and beginning weeks of the semester, and they are anxious to go."
 
The talent is evident throughout the events for the Eagles. The team combines a list of strong returners and promising newcomers that will surely make a splash in 2022. 
 
The notable name is Preston, who was a Second-Team All-American last season. The senior is an all-around athlete that thrives in the heptathlon event. "We qualified two ladies for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships last year and we are hoping to bring a few more this year," added Henning.
 
Biola has 11 competitions on the slate for 2022. Each meet is set in California, including ones hosted at Point Loma (3/19), Concordia (3/26) and Azusa Pacific (4/14-16).
 
Each event will bring its own challenge, as the Eagles battle in a tough PacWest Conference and an overall strong NCAA Division II. "NCAA Division II has gotten extremely competitive over the last couple of years and our conference might be small on the track side but is one of the most difficult conferences in the country," said Henning. 
 
Despite the tall task, Henning and the Eagles have set the mark high for themselves in 2022. "Our goal is to hold our own, compete hard and mix it up in each event area, and finish in the top three on both sides. This is a very challenging task. I believe that if our group focuses on the journey, the effort they are putting forth, and being the best that God has made them to be, and worries less of the outcome, they will truly show up at the conference and national level this spring."
 
BU will be back out on the field of competition on Saturday at Pomona-Pitzer with the first events starting at 10:30 am.
