STOCKTON, Calif. --- Biola continued its powerful strength of schedule on Monday, entering into the Visit Stockton Invitational. The field consisted of 19 teams, including 10 teams nationally ranked or receiving votes. Through the first round, BU was cradled in the middle of the competition in 10th place.

As a team, Biola tallied 310 strokes to come in at +22. BU was tied for the fourth-most birdies through 18 holes, while coming in as the sixth-best team on par fours. The four par fives slowed down BU, as the team was near the back of the pack, going +12 on the long distance holes.

Brady Turnquist turned in the team's best score, tying for sixth on the individual leaderboard. The sophomore offered up a scorecard of 74, putting her at two over for the day and one stroke behind the leader. Turnquist actually thrived on the long range par fives, going one-under through the four holes.

A pair of freshmen came in next for the Eagles in Melanie Reyes and Lauren Lee. The duo both went sub-80 on the day with each of them tallying 78 strokes and tying for 36th place.

Sami Penor entered the Stockton Invite feeling great with an individual victory in Texas last week. The veteran added to the team's score with an 80 on the day to land at +8.

Rachel Shaw rounded it out for BU, notching an 83 in round one. The score was good enough to place tied for 78th amongst individuals on Monday.

Competing as an individual for Biola and not contributing to the team score, Mary Grace Davidson finished round one 13 over-par.

All 19 teams will be back on the course at the Brookside Country Club on Tuesday to finish out the Visit Stockton Invitational.
