November 13, 2022

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. --- The Eagles squad delivered in a meet at Soka prior to their mid-season meet coming up next week. BU stepped up and took down a field of seven teams on Saturday at the Wyatt Balman Invitational.

Biola came through with 515 points after 32 events on the day. Fresno Pacific and The Master's followed in second and third place, trailing the Eagles by 41 and 194 points, respectively.

"I was very pleased with our Men's program, as they continue to show grit and determination as we head into our Mid-season meet," commented head coach Nate Harding. "Our support coaching staff of Coach Rachel Stinchcomb and Coach Daniel Parahnevich have done a tremendous job of helping to prepare our athletes to compete on meet days."

The BU men swam off events as they prepare for the Mid-season Meet November 18-20. Even so, the Eagles showed their prowess in the pool with two event wins.

The opening event for the men was a quick 40 points for Biola. Ryan Monrean, Jacob Haaksma, Dylan Pon, and Tanner Smith combined for a top place finish in the 200yd Medley Relay. The group won the four-leg race with a time of 1:39.00.

The 500yd freestyle witnessed the full domination of the Biola swimmers. The top six finishers all represented Biola, totaling 53 points for the squad.

Patrick Waggoner led the group for the event crown, posting a time of 4:46.70. His teammates were not far behind with Pon finishing at 4:46.88, Smith at 4:47.17 and Sean Rho, Michael Maurer and Colin Snyder not far behind.

The BU squad was happy to see Jackson Black back in the pool, making his season debut. The All-PCSC backstroker swam his second fastest backstroke ever.

BU's women divers also made the trip to Soka. The group accumulated 64 points through the 1m and 3m dive events.

"The winter invite will provide a special atmosphere. Both programs are ready to represent Biola well next weekend," added Harding. "I'm extremely proud of our entire program and ready for a weekend of fun and FAST swims!"

The Eagles will return to action at the La Verne Winter Invite next weekend, November 18-20.
