Brady Wins

Back-to-Back

Brady Turnquist was crowned Champion at Dennis Rose Invitational for the second-consecutive year.

October 29, 2022

WAIMEA, Hawai'i--- Brady Turnquist successfully defended her crown at the Dennis Rose Invitational.

The Dennis Rose has been going on for 15 years and Turnquist is the first player ever to win the individual title more than once.

Turnquist duplicated her first round score of one-under-par 71 which catapulted her above the previous day's leader Arnie Taguines (UT Permian Basin).

"I couldn't be more excited for Brady," stated head coach Jane Carr. "I knew she would have to go under par today to win it."

Carr continued, "Early in her round I noticed her being tentative with her putting. I pulled her aside and told her you have to putt to make it. She went on to drop two birdies in her last four holes. Brady is one of the toughest competitors I have ever coached."

Melanie Reyes also duplicated her first round score (75) which placed her as the Eagles' second best (tied for 23).

Madison Voisard improved three strokes in the second round which moved her up to T-35 on the leaderboard. Behind Voisard was Rachel Shaw tied for 40th (154) and Emily Cons who tied for 60th (160).

As a team, Biola finished tied for fifth behind Champion Cal State San Marcos (583), second place Point Loma (596), third place Sonoma State and Simon Fraser (597).

"As a team it wasn't the finish I had hoped for, but we were only three strokes off a second place finish," explained Carr. "Big number holes kept us from moving up the leaderboard today, but I was really proud of our team for not giving up and bouncing back when the tough holes came."

Biola's individualist was Abigale Morris who placed 82nd with a total score of 178.

The Eagles will head home to La Mirada and prepare for their spring season which will begin Feb. 5 at the Jack Brown Memorial in Texas.
