LA MIRADA --- Biola Women's Tennis is ready to reach new heights as they head into their first match of the season on Friday, January 14 at 2:00 pm. The BU squad is looking to compete well in the 2022 campaign, following a trip to regionals in 2021

In his sixth year at the helm, David Goodman has his team locked and loaded for what is to come in the 2022 slate. Goodman's squad returned it's key contributors and is looking to build off a historic 2021 run. Last season, the team went 13-8 and earned its first ever trip to the NCAA DII West Region Championships.

"We're all very excited for the season we have in front of the Biola Women's Tennis team," said head coach Goodman.

The 2022 season starts on Friday against NCAA DI opponent Nevada in an exhibition match at home. Including the home opener, the Eagles have 15 home matches and two four-match homestands at the Biola Tennis Center. Early into the season the team will leave for Hawaii to compete against Hawaii Hilo, Hawaii Pacific, and Chaminade.

"Going into the year having Mary Brascia and Colbeyshae Emery nationally ranked as a doubles team and as individual singles players gives us a lot of confidence moving forward," added Goodman. "We have a deep team filled with people who have a desire to compete and win, and as a coach that's all you can ask for."

The dynamic duo of Brascia and Emery will be a pair to watch as the season unfolds for BU. Individually, both star athletes compiled 14 wins on the court in 2021, while they joined forces to log a 10-6 record in doubles play. Their stellar play led to recognition in the ITA National DII Rankings, placing Emery at 13th, Brascia at 42nd and the duo as doubles partners at 13th.

"There are a lot of tough matches on our schedule, but I believe our team is up for the challenge. We want to go out and do the best we can while, of course, giving all the glory to God," stated Goodman.

With the ambitious season ahead, BU faces some tough competition in the PacWest Conference. The Eagles will host those challenging opponents in 2022, including Azusa Pacific (Feb. 19), Fresno Pacific (Feb.25), and Concordia (March 12).

Goodman's stellar squad is eager to compete on Friday, January 14 at 2:00 pm against University of Nevada at the BTC. For live stats links and updates check athletics.biola.edu.
