September 17, 2021

WGCA RELEASE

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. --- After a strong opening tournament against some of California's toughest competition, Biola Golf received much-deserved attention from the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). In the second WGCA Coaches Poll of the season, Biola picked up seven points in the NCAA DII category earning the receiving votes distinction.

The Eagles were led by reigning PacWest Golfer of the Week, Brady Turnquist, who notched her second season-opening individual title in just as many seasons. Turnquist (75-71-146) shot a tournament-best score of 146 at the PLNU Sea Lion Invitational.

Head Coach Jane Carr had five golfers finish in the top-15 in a field of 61 golfers. Following Turnquist's stellar performance, newcomer Rachel Shaw (77-71-148) competed as an individual for Carr and finished tied for third place on the individual leader board.

Biola has also relied on veteran Sami Penor as the redshirt junior carded the second-highest team score (79-72-151) for the Eagles in the first action of the season.

Freshmen Melanie Reyes (76-76-152) and Lauren Lee (97-73-152) rounded out Biola's top-15 finishes as the pair tied for 12th place. Lee also competing as an individual for Carr.

The Eagles return to the course on October 7, as they head to South Jordan Utah, for the Westminster Wasatch Invitational at Glenmoor Golf Club. For live updates check athletics.biola.edu.
