Nate Harding Named Head Swim & Dive Coach

August 09, 2021

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Athletics is pleased to announce Nate Harding as the Eagles' new Head Swim & Dive coach.

Harding returns to Biola after spending the last two years as an assistant coach at The University of Redlands in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). He previously served as an assistant coach under former head coach Ryan Kauth during the 2018-19 season.

"Biola Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving programs are going to continue to thrive under the leadership of coach Harding," commented Senior Director of Athletics Dr. Bethany Miller. "His heart for spiritual integration is evident, and he will continue the tradition of strong academic and competitive success in these teams. We are looking forward to his impact this year!"

Harding re-joins Biolas staff, this time at the helm of the swim and dive program that he helped build alongside former coach Ryan Kauth.

"I am excited to be working and serving in the Biola community again! Biola Swim & Dive has recently had a remarkable surge to the top of the PCSC and NCAA Division II," commented Harding. "I was fortunate enough to serve on the coaching staff during the beginning seeds of Biola's recent success."

While at the University of Redlands Harding coached the Bulldogs to five new school records, an individual SCIAC champion, and two NCAA qualifiers.

During his time at Biola in 2018-19, Harding's leadership helped the Eagles to break eight school records. Harding also served as an assistant coach at nationally-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in 2016-18, where he helped produce 16 NCAA DIII qualifiers and an NCAA champion.

Harding is no stranger to success at the collegiate or high school level. Prior to his collegiate coaching experience, Harding was a successful coach at Claremont High School as well as Carter High School in Rialto, California. Harding has also served as an assistant swim coach with Mt. Baldy Aquatics in Claremont, California.

Associate Athletics Director Eddie Shepard is excited to have Harding back on campus. "I am thrilled to have Nathan Haring returning to us and stepping into the head coach position," said Shepard. "I know that he had a significant impact on our student-athletes during his time with us as an assistant coach. I am excited to see how he continues the swim and dive program's tradition of success."

Harding will make an immediate impact on the swim & dive program as well as the lives of Biola's student-athletes.

"While I am really excited to continue the program's growth and success, I am most excited about seeing our students draw near to Christ along the way," said Harding.

Harding completed his Master of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in sports performance at Louisiana Tech University in 2011. He earned his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in sports management from Grambling State University.
Nathan and his wife Joneese return to Biola with their daughter Ezriela.
