LA MIRADA, Calif.  --- The College Sports Information Directors of America announced its Academic All-District At-Large for the 2021 season. The swim duo of Patrick Waggoner and Liza Parahnevich earned their first career CoSIDA Academic-All District award after being named to the Academic All-District VII At-Large Team.

CoSIDA Academic All-District members are recognized as the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Nominees are divided into eight districts for the first round, which is voted on by that district's sports information directors. The At-Large team is composed of student-athletes in the following sports: lacrosse, rifle, skiing, fencing, swimming, tennis, golf, volleyball, gymnastics, water polo, ice hockey and wrestling. 

Waggoner was impressive both academically and athletically as the sophomore boasted a 3.75 grade-point average, while majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Biblical Studies. 

In the pool, Waggoner broke multiple school records, starting with breaking his own school record in the 200-freestyle (1:40.59). Waggoner continued to shine in the water as he would write his name in the record book once more in the 400-IM with a mark of 4:07.59. 

At the 2021 Pacific Collegiate Swimming & Diving Conference Championships, Waggoner accounted for three individual PCSC titles and school records in the 200-IM (1:52.36), 200-freestyle (1:41.22) and 200-butterfly (1:50.93). 

Alongside his teammates, Waggoner would help set school records in the 400-freestyle relay (3:04.00) and 200-freestyle relay (1:23.53) to secure a PCSC Championship for Biola. 

Parahnevich picked up right where she left off in 2020. Academically, the senior boasted a perfect 4.00 grade-point average while majoring in Nursing and minoring in Biblical Studies.

The senior helped lead Biola swim to a perfect season that saw the Eagles take down all five NCAA Division I opponents they faced. In the opening meet of the season, Parahnevich secured first place finishes in the 100-backstroke (1:00.84) and 200-backstroke (2:09.98).

At the PCSC Championships, Parahnevich and her teammates saw a six-year-old school record fall in the 200-freesetyle relay (1:35.48) and would go on to break the school record in the 800-freestyle relay (7:34.54).

Parahnevich and co. were not done yet,  as they broke another school record in the 400-freestyle relay (3:28.26) to clinch the PCSC Championship for Biola.
