LA MIRADA, Calif.  --- The College Sports Information Directors of America announced its Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Teams for the 2021 season. 

CoSIDA Academic All-District members are recognized as the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Nominees are divided into eight districts for the first round, which is voted on by that district's sports information directors.

Biola Track and Field's Angel Escobar and Noah Strenn earned their first career CoSIDA Academic-All District awards as they were named to the Academic All-District VII Teams as announced Thursday.

For Escobar the honor is one of many earned during the 2021 season. The graduate student posted a 3.77 grade-point average while working towards his Master of Business Administration. 

Escobar was one of 11 Eagles who received All-Region selections from US Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as he was selected for his performance in the 10,000m. At the PacWest Track & Field Championships, Escobar not only won the conference title in the 10,000m, but he also set a new meet record in the event, earning a spot on the All-PacWest Track & Field team.

Strenn, a fellow graduate student, was also a first-time recipient of the Academic All-District honor. The multi-event athlete owns a 3.83 grade-point average as he also works towards his Master of Business Administration. 

Like Escobar, Strenn was named to the All-PacWest Track & Field Team alongside his teammates for their performance in the 4x400 relay. The quartet of Jahquez Durham, Trevor Hormel, Noah Strenn and Mathias Davis finished in third place at the PacWest Track & Field Championships with a time of 3:20.10.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late July.
