SURPRISE, Ariz. --- Biola Women's Tennis entered the NCAA Division II West Regional tournament as the No. 4 seed, slated to faceoff against No. 1 seed and No. 6 ranked Azusa Pacific. The Eagles fought hard throughout their first regionals appearance but ultimately fell to the Cougars, 4-2. 

While the results did not work in Biola's favor, Head Coach David Goodman is proud of what his team accomplished this season.

"APU is a very good team, everything has to happen perfectly for us to come out on top," said Goodman. "We battled hard in the singles. It was really cool to see us get the win at courts no. 5 and no 6 from Mary and Ines." 

Goodman was especially impressed with what he saw fromInes Diaz. "For Ines to turn that match around and get the win after dropping the match to Katia last time they played was very impressive." 

"I am very proud of what this team has accomplished this year. It's cool to see the change in the program over the past few years and we look forward to a bright future with a majority of the group returning next season." 

Azusa Pacific took the early lead winning the doubles point, as Brooke Fager and Lilly McNeill put up a hard fought battle against Carolyn Bronner and Jacky Wagner. APU earned their first doubles victory of the day 6-1.

Colbeyshae Emery and Mary Brascia continued to play well together. The duo made every point count but could not outlast APU's Petra Ivanovic and Anna Savchenko, who took the match 6-3.

The action on court No. 3 was halted midway through as APU clinched the singles point with two victories. 

Mary Brascia handed BU its first victory in singles play, as she took down her opponent 6-2, 7-5 in the No. 5 spot for Goodman. Ines Diaz continued Biola's success as she upset APU's Katia Betancourt 6-3 in the opening set and 6-2 in set two for the win. 

APU earned victories on courts No. 3 and No. 2.

All eyes were on court No.1 as Colbeyshae Emery and Petra Ivankovic's match was the longest on the day. 

Emery took the early lead pulling ahead of Ivankovic 2-1 in the opening set. After falling behind 5-3 to her opponent, Emery continued to fight back nearly evening the set at 5-4. Emery fell 6-4 in the opening set and 6-3 in the second set wrapping up the action for Biola.
