LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- A historic 2021 campaign for the Biola Eagles is not over, as the team continues to compete in the NCAA DII National Tournament and rake in honors. 

On Friday, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association selected Nikki Udria, Christine Dickerson, Kristin Halte and Paula Damas as the West Region Coaching Staff of the Year. The Friday announcement added to Udria's accomplishments in 2021, having been named PacWest Coach of the Year earlier this year.

In 2021, Biola set new program benchmarks, cementing its place amongst the best teams in the nation. The leadership team led the Eagles to a 23-14 overall record and a No. 24 ranking in the NFCA Top 25 poll, entering Friday's action. 

The excellent campaign gave the team the second seed in the NCAA West Regional Championships. BU took advantage of its opportunity, becoming regional champs in its first appearance at the regional competition. The tournament victory gave the BU squad the title of "The Best Team in the West" and gave them a spot in the NCAA DII National Tournament.

Udria's third year at the helm continued with a win in the first round at nationals on Thursday. With each step, the Eagles set new program-bests and will vie to continue that trend as they advance in the tourney.

Biola is set to face off against top-seeded No. 1 Augustana in the second round on Friday at 10:00 am.
