AZUSA, Calif. --- Biola Track & Field took on day two of the Last Chance Twilight meet at Cougar Stadium. BrittaHolmberg gave Biola its best finish of the day while three Eagles set collegiate bests.

Britta Holmberg finished in third place in the 5000m open, giving Biola its best finish on the day. In addition to a top-three finish, Holberg also set a new collegiate best with a time of 18:17.08 in the event, a seven-second improvement from her previous best set in April of 2021.  

Holmberg was joined by Jerry Baltazer as both has season personal bests in the event with Holmberg improving by seven seconds and Baltazer by two.

Chase Williams continued to compete with elite competition as the freshman finished sixth in the 100m, competing against three unattached athletes, a Team Brazil and Team Adidas athlete. Williams just missed his collegiate best by one second, as he ran a 10.65 on Saturday. 

The freshman continues to show great consistency in his events, which is an important and valuable trait to have. "Look out for this young man," said Henning. "He has had a great freshman campaign and will continue to develop as a young up and coming sprinter."

Kiersten Huitt and Nathaniel Estrada provided BU with two eighth place finishes in the 100 hurdles and 800m respectively. Huitt finished with a time of 14.80 while Estrada finished with a time of 1:54.58. Estrada's performance was a great way for the freshman to finish out his first season as an Eagle. 

Huitt has made her mark on BU track & field in her short five months as an Eagle. Alongside fellow graduate student Emily Alvarez, the two veterans helped elevate the program and mentor their teammates. 

"I really appreciated Kiersten's competitive spirit, friendly and team-centered personality, and her great work ethic," said Henning. "She will be missed dearly but her impact in the program will last for years to come!"

In the steeplechase, Grace Catena and Megan Neumann finished 10th and 12th in the event with times of 11:22.27 and 11:35.34 respectively. Neumann's mark was good enough for a collegiate best by over three-seconds.

"Megan originally wasn't even going to race, but we decided we might as well since she would be training with Grace for two weeks," Henning said. "I'm glad we did!"

Unfortunately, Catena wasn't able to hit the provisional standard in the event, but gave great effort. "I'm really proud of her for continuing on despite feeling pretty exhausted after the PacWest Championships. We will figure out this event and it will be a great one for her!"


Rebeka Preston finished sixth in the heptathlon scoring 5,043 points. Preston finished fifth in all three of Saturday's events, collecting a collegiate best in the javelin with a mark of 35.10m. The junior secured personal bets in four events and earned a finish that places her twelfth in the nation in the heptathlon.

After finishing ninth in the long jump on Friday, Hannah Hubbard set a new collegiate best in the triple jump on Saturday. Hubbard finished fourth in the event with a mark of 11.70m and improvement from her last best of 11.46m at the Bryan Clay invite of April 2021. 

Although they didn't get the finishes they hoped for, Henning was sure to acknowledge Noah Strenn, Carissa Kalpakjian, Anna Maumalanga and Natasha Currence. "We are very thankful we had (this group) back for another year," said Henning. Their contributions to the program and their teammates continue to build on the legacy of Biola Track & Field.
